Participant FAQs

To help you enjoy a wonderful day with us at the Picnic we have prepared answers to a few frequently asked questions.

Permit
Drop off permits have now been issued to all registered participants. Please print out and fill in the details very clearly, in case we need to reach you in an emergency, and place in clear view on your dashboard.

Vehicle access
Apart from very specific access (emergency vehicles, animal welfare reasons, pre-arranged permission) there is NO vehicle access onto the field. The car park is used to site specific prearranged stalls so cannot be used for parking or leaving cars with supplies.

Setting Up on the Day
For those not so familiar with the Meadows, it is a public park with access only from a small car park so any equipment / stock you bring will need to be carried from the car park to the location of your stall which may be on the far side of the field. Please prepare for this, we can’t put all the stalls close to the car park, sorry. Perhaps bring a trolley or even a wheelbarrow to help you? Plus some helpers..

Dropping off
Due to the continued success of the event with more and more participants we will be operating half hour pre-allocated slots in order for every stall holder to access the car park, unload and vacate. We do ask you make every effort to come within your allotted time, unload as quickly as possible and vacate your slot as quickly as possible.  This will allow us to get all stallholders in and unloaded before the road closure at 10am.  The current list can be found here.

Parking
There is a free car park in Tanyard Lane behind the Red Lion – please observe any notifications.  Please do NOT park in the Red Lion – they now operate parking fines for all cars staying over 3 hours and not being notified to the staff.

We have 3 disabled parking spaces available.  Should you need this facility we do have limited spaces just down Meadow Lane courtesy of a kind resident.  Let us know and we will do what we can.

Collecting at the end of the day
It won’t be possible to operate this system at the end of the day as you will all be keen to pack up, get home and put your feet up after a busy day (or head over to the Cricket Club to celebrate).  So we do ask that you first move all your stock, gazebo and belongings to the car park. Once  you have done this then please do go and get your car to load up your belongings and vacate the car park as quick as possible in order for others to do the same. We appreciate this is a busy time so again your patience, whilst we get you in out and out as quickly as possible, is very much appreciated!

The road closure is in place until 5.00 to protect pedestrians walking home down Meadow Lane. Please drive carefully so we continue our excellent track record of no accidents.
