Here we are again! It is nearly time for Alvechurch’s annual Picnic in the Park. Whether you are new to the Parish, or an old timer, there is something for everyone. Think of the
lovely Church Fetes we all enjoyed as kids – this is a similar event, but on speed! Bring a picnic, or not, as there will be plenty of food options, bring a gazebo, your chairs, your
dogs, your children, your grandparents – there is something for everyone!

The annual Alvechurch Fun Dog Show will start again at 10.30 prompt, so we have plenty of time to have fun with classes such as Best Trick, Waggiest Tail and Cutest Puppy. Local canine vet Sarah-Jane Barton is back to be our fabulous judge once more and due to our very kind sponsors most classes will not only have a rosette to third place but a prize for each class winner. All class winners go through to Best in Show winning an additional rosette, medal and winner’s trophy. Registration is on the day but please get there from 10 as registration closes at 10.25. You can also register online before the day – the link will be on their website very soon.

Every year the organisers strive to keep the much-loved format of stalls, entertainers, charities, and activities but they are always delighted to add more stalls and entertainment for our supporters, and this year is no exception with many new stalls. Weather permitting, The Picnic will be welcoming pony rides once more and there may even be a fun balloon activity in the style of Crystal Maze. Plus, lots, lots more!

The official opening at 12 noon will involve a local veteran along with our young logo designer Dottie George – her drawing captured the intent of the organisers to commemorate 80 years since VE Day. This year’s competition had a record number of entries, and it was incredibly hard for the organisersjust to pick one winner! Thank you and well done to all our fabulous local artists.

Once again there is a very full entertainment programme which has something for everyone and runs until 4.30 when everyone heads over to the Alvechurch Cricket Club for another fun packed evening of entertainment. The day itself will see some firm favourites including refreshments from the Lounge and others, bouncy castle, face painting, sporting challenges, games,  activities, raffles, tombolas, and lots of things to buy and collect.

The event could not be held without the generosity of our sponsor stalwarts: Thomas Brothers and LogCo.co; along with JT Electrical once more. We also welcome new sponsors Acorn Dental. Massive thanks also go to Alvechurch Parish Council for allowing us to use ‘The Meadows’ and for all their ongoing support.

As ever Stewards are needed to help out on the day so if you could donate just one hour of your time on the day please email alvechurchpitp@gmail.com – you will get free refreshments including a bap and a pint!

As the Picnic is held outside things are subject to change – you can see the latest at the Picnics on back on the website, or our Facebook page (search for Alvechurch Parish Picnic in the Park).
